Bert was born in South Africa and completed his university studies in Johannesburg. He and his family immigrated to New Zealand in 1994. Bert qualified in South Africa and obtained his diploma in Dermatoscopy from the University of Gratz in Austria, and his diploma in skin cancer medicine and surgery through the Skin Cancer College of Australasia. After being a GP he is now working full time in skin cancer work. Having experienced skin cancer in his own family he is passionate about early detection and management of Melanoma and Non Melanoma Skin cancer. He enjoys mountain biking and exploring the cycle trails of New Zealand.
