Harvey was born in South Africa and completed his medical training in Johannesburg. He immigrated to NZ with his family in 1995 and has a son and daughter who are now adults. Until recently, Harvey worked as a GP in Hillcrest Medical Centre for 26 years. He obtained the Diploma of Skin Cancer Surgery from Healthcert in Australia and the Advanced Certificate of Dermoscopy. He is currently working towards the diploma in dermoscopy and the diploma of skin cancer medicine. With the high rates of skin cancer/melanoma in New Zealand, he feels strongly about early detection and treatment of skin cancer. Harvey is married to Lyn who works as a marketing manager for a large food company. They are both keen fitness enthusiasts and they share a joint passion for competitive ballroom dancing.
